Legal
Terms of Use
Effective: 2026-09-28 · Last updated: 2026-09-28
Please read these Terms carefully. They govern your use of Room for Two, contain important disclaimers, a limitation of liability, and, where enforceable, a binding arbitration clause and class-action waiver. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Mykola Sereda ("we", "us", "our"), the operator of the Room for Two mobile application and website available at https://roomfortwo.org (together with any related features and content, the "Service"). By creating an account, installing the app, visiting the website, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.
2. Eligibility
To use the Service you must:
- Be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction if that is higher;
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract;
- Not be barred from receiving the Service under the laws of your country or any country you access the Service from;
- Not have been previously suspended or removed from the Service.
The Service is not directed to children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the Service, contact us at nickolaysereda@gmail.com.
3. The Service
Room for Two is a private, two-person space in which you and your partner may exchange daily sessions, sealed answers, threads, reactions, memories, and AI-assisted content (session personalisation and thread reflections). Features may be added, changed, or removed at any time.
4. Your account and your room
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date.
- A "room" is shared between you and one other person you invite. You are responsible for who you invite and for the content you share.
- We are not a party to your relationship with your partner. Any dispute between you and your partner (including about content in your room, unwanted contact, or termination of the room) is between the two of you.
- You may leave, pause, archive, or delete your room from within the app at any time, subject to our data-retention practices described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to (and not to help anyone else):
- Use the Service in a way that violates any law or third-party right.
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, stalk, defame, exploit, or harm any person, including your partner.
- Post content that is illegal, sexually exploitative of minors, incites violence, or promotes discrimination or self-harm.
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, age, or affiliation.
- Upload malware, or interfere with, disrupt, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or related systems.
- Scrape, crawl, mirror, or otherwise extract data from the Service by automated means.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the Service, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law.
- Circumvent any security, rate-limit, or usage-limit mechanism.
- Use the Service to build or train any machine-learning model, or to develop a competing product.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or any part of it without our written permission.
We may investigate and take action for any suspected violation, including suspending or terminating accounts, removing content, and referring matters to law enforcement.
6. Your content
"Your Content" means everything you submit to the Service — your prompt answers, thread messages, reactions, avatars, and any other material. You keep ownership of Your Content.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit, modify (only for formatting and technical adaptation), and display Your Content solely to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Service for you and your partner — for example, to sync your room across devices, create backups, generate AI reflections, and diagnose crashes. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from our active systems, except for (i) residual copies retained in routine backups for the period stated in the Privacy Policy, and (ii) copies we are required to keep to comply with law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
You represent and warrant that:
- You have all rights necessary to submit Your Content and to grant the licence above;
- Your Content does not violate any law or third-party right (including privacy, publicity, contract, and intellectual property rights);
- You have obtained consent from any identifiable individual (including your partner) whose personal information appears in Your Content, to the extent required by law.
We have no obligation to monitor Your Content, but we may remove or disable content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or applicable law.
7. Feedback
If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them for any purpose without obligation to you. This does not give us any right to your other personal data beyond what is described in the Privacy Policy.
8. AI-assisted content — not advice
The Service uses third-party artificial-intelligence models to (a) personalise the daily session intro and answer options, and (b) generate short reflections in threads once both partners have written. These outputs are produced automatically, can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or contextually inappropriate, and are provided "as is" for informational and reflective purposes only. You are solely responsible for how you act on anything the AI produces. See the Privacy Policy for details of the AI provider and the data sent to it.
9. NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE, NOT A MEDICAL APPLICATION. NOT THERAPY. YOUR RELIANCE, YOUR RISK.
Room for Two is not a medical device, not medical application, not a mental-health service, not couples therapy, not counselling, not a crisis service, and not a substitute for professional advice of any kind — including medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, legal, financial, relational, or spiritual advice. The Service, including all prompts, exercises, questions, insights, statistics, "bond meter" data, weekly recaps, threads, and AI-generated reflections, is provided for personal, informational, and entertainment purposes only. It is not designed to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition and is not a replacement for consulting a qualified professional. If you or your partner are struggling, please consult a licensed professional.
Your reliance on the Service is entirely at your own risk. You alone decide whether, when, and how to act on anything you see in the Service — including any prompt we surface, any exercise we suggest, any reflection generated by AI, any pattern or score the Service shows you, and any content posted by your partner. Any decision you make, any action you take, any action you decide not to take, and any consequence — for you, for your partner, for your relationship, for your family, for your finances, for your health, or for any third party — is solely and exclusively your own responsibility and liability.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we accept no liability whatsoever for any loss, harm, injury, damage, distress, separation, breakdown, financial loss, missed opportunity, or other consequence of any kind (whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, foreseeable, or unforeseen) arising from or in any way connected to your reliance on, use of, misuse of, or inability to use the Service or any content within it. By using the Service you acknowledge and accept this allocation of risk.
10. Safety and emergencies
The Service does not detect or respond to emergencies. If you or your partner are in immediate danger or experiencing a crisis (including domestic violence, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts), stop using the Service and contact local emergency services or a qualified crisis line immediately. For example:
- Emergency services: 112 (EU), 911 (US & Canada), or your local number.
- International directory of crisis helplines: findahelpline.com.
We disclaim any duty to intervene, escalate, or contact authorities on your behalf. Under no circumstances shall we or any of our providers be liable for any injury, harm, or loss arising from any decision or action taken (or not taken) based on the Service.
11. Third-party services
The Service is distributed via the Apple App Store and Google Play, may link to third-party websites, and uses third-party providers (see the Privacy Policy for a current list). Your use of any third-party service is governed by that third party's terms and privacy policy, and we are not responsible for third-party services or content.
Apple-specific notice: You and we acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. We (not Apple) are solely responsible for the Service and its content. In the event of any failure of the Service to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the Service. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
12. Price and future in-app purchases
The Service is currently provided free of charge. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions in the current version of the app. If we introduce paid features in the future, they will be processed by Apple or Google (we do not process your payment card), governed by the applicable app store's payment, renewal, cancellation, and refund policies, and disclosed to you before you can be charged. Prices, features, and terms of any future purchase may change; we will notify you of material changes as required by applicable law.
13. Availability and changes to the Service
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, in whole or in part, with or without notice. We do not warrant that the Service will be available without interruption or error, or that data will not be lost. You are responsible for maintaining your own copies of anything important to you.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, remove content, or delete your account, at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or that continued use poses a risk to us, to your partner, to other users, or to third parties, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including §§ 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15–22, and 24–30.
15. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we, our affiliates, and our providers disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, and any warranties arising from course of dealing, course of performance, or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, accurate, or that defects will be corrected. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable warranty or consumer-protection right that applies to you under the mandatory law of your country of residence.
16. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, in no event will we, our affiliates, or our providers be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, use, business opportunity, relationship, emotional distress, or reputation, arising out of or in connection with the Service, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty euros (€50).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for (i) death or personal injury caused by our negligence, (ii) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, (iii) any non-waivable rights under mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence, or (iv) rights under the GDPR. If any part of this section is held unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in full effect.
17. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless us, our affiliates, and our respective directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and providers from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost, and expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the Service, (c) your violation of these Terms, (d) your violation of any law or third-party right, or (e) any dispute between you and your partner. We reserve the right, at your expense, to assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter for which you are required to indemnify us; you agree to cooperate with our defence. This section does not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law.
18. Force majeure
We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disaster, war, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemic, government action, labour condition, power failure, internet or infrastructure outage, or failure of any third-party provider.
19. Your statutory consumer rights
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that grants you non-derogable rights, nothing in these Terms limits or excludes those rights. Where any provision of these Terms is inconsistent with such rights, those rights prevail, but only to the extent of the inconsistency.
20. Governing law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection laws apply to you, this choice of law will not deprive you of the protection of those mandatory laws.
21. Dispute resolution and arbitration
Informal resolution first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at nickolaysereda@gmail.com and try in good faith to resolve the dispute for at least sixty (60) days.
Forum. Unless you are a consumer with a mandatory right to sue in your country of residence, any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the competent courts of Nicosia, Cyprus. Where permitted by applicable law, we and you agree to resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration under the rules of a reputable arbitration institution designated by us, instead of in court.
Class-action waiver. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you and we agree that each may bring claims against the other only in your or its individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative action.
22. Notices
We may send notices to you by in-app notification, by push notification, or by email to the address associated with your account. You may send notices to us at nickolaysereda@gmail.com. Notices are effective when sent.
23. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a shorter period is required by law or the change addresses a security or legal risk. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
24. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or by operation of law, or to any affiliate, without your consent.
25. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified only to the extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
26. No waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision or any other right.
27. Relationship of the parties
Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, employment, agency, or franchise relationship between you and us.
28. Export controls and sanctions
You represent that you are not located in, and are not a national or resident of, any country subject to comprehensive trade sanctions, and that you are not on any restricted- or denied-party list maintained by any government.
29. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms we present to you for a specific feature, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreement or understanding.
